Bird's nest soup or bird's nest is inherently familiar to
many people. But before now, we often only know the bird's nest without many
people interested in what the bird eats. So, what is bird food? And how to feed
bird nest like? Invite you to track the following article offline.
1. What do birds eat?
What do adult birds eat?
Adult birds nest eat small insects (about 0.01–0.72g),
flying in the air like wasps, wing ants, small bees, mosquito flies, ephemera,
spiders or small bugs.
The ratio of insects in the bird's food as follows:
The wing of the membrane (ant) accounted for 61.1%
The uniform set (termite) accounts for about 14.7%
Set of two wings (flies) makes up about 7.8%
The remaining species only account for a low rate
Adult birds nest often eat insects
The favorite food for bird's nest is ants (about 50-70%),
followed by termites, flies or planthoppers, ladybugs, small bugs, damselfly,
damselflies, moths, silk wings and locusts. Birds often catch food while
flying, with an altitude of about 30m and according to the distribution of
insects in the air. There are characteristic plants that are loved by birds,
there are also places where they love to park. It is a source of abundant food
for this precious bird. Plants often attract insects such as apple trees, fig
trees, etc.
Food for chicks
Foods for chicks are often taken by their parents and fed to
their children. Bird nest prey and feed the same as when nursing babies. The
parents mix enzymes and other antibodies in their saliva into the bait to feed
the chicks. The composition of bird's nest is quite diverse. In general, young
birds often eat foods with thin chitin shell, the percentage of brown
planthoppers, green leafhoppers account for 50% of the composition of food,
mosquitoes occupy about 20% and the ants account for about 7%. Each young bird
nest will see in the prey there are about 250 to 350 small insects.
In case of artificial breeding, birds eat what birds nest?
Young birds are often fed eggs, young bee larvae. The current bird nesters also
feed a few more small worms or crickets. The first time, lasting about 5 to 6
weeks, the birds nest are both parents fed by prey. During this time, the bait
that birds nest eat about 0.6-1g. Afterwards, the lumps have a larger size of
1.5 - 1.7g. The nearest bait time is about 30 minutes apart. When feeding baby
birds, often feed the chicks 3 to 4 times a day. Specifically, 3 times during
the day, 1 time around 8 pm. Young bird's nest receives food from normal humans
and also grows normally until it flies.
Bird nest eating insects on should not contribute very
important in controlling the number of insects harmful to crops. Thus, what
birds eat not only brings high economic efficiency, health benefits, but also
contributes to increase crop productivity and protect the environment in the
most natural way.
However, the knowledge of raising oats shows that young
birds are fertilized bait lumps about 0.8 g once a day, about 2-4 times a day.
If there are 1000 birds, it needs 2.4kg of insects. When the birds are bigger,
the amount of food needed is also greater, the bait is nearly twice as big as
before, meaning that every day the bird needs at least 5 to 7g of bait. Thus,
1,000 children need from 5kg to 7kg of insects. With such a small insect, a
young bird nest will be fed 250 to 350 insects at one time by its parents.
Thus, the number of insects used for a swallow nest is about 5,000 very large.
Such an analysis helps us to better understand the orientation for long-term
development of bird nest farming and the issue of bird food should also be
raised more clearly.
Bird nest live near the forest, fruit tree growing area is
where there will be many wing ants (belonging to the membrane wing), birds nest
in urban areas will have many flies (of the two wings), bird nest eat many wing
ants , quality will be better. Birds nest to eat a lot of quality flies will
not be equal to eating ants.
2. How to feed bird nest
With the above information, you already know what birds eat.
But for those raising oats indoors, the source of food for birds nest is a
matter of great concern. With a plentiful food source will not only stimulate
the growth and reproduction of birds nest, increase the quality as well as the
number of nests but also create stability for the birds nest and time to
increase the herd. Since then, deciding the ability to recover capital quickly,
early return on investment in bird nest.
There are many methods of creating home-made food sources
for bird's nest such as Drosophila fruit fly, Sitophilus Ozyzae flour mite
using MIXCO-2. Thus, helping oats farmers will be proactive in the food source
for birds and especially the supplement of food for the seasons or areas with
unfavorable climates, insect resources decline.
Causes fruit flies
First step: You use 2kg of MIXCO-2 flour to mix together 2
kg of rice flour or flour or flour sold in the market and 5 liters of clean
water into the pan and stir well. Then, put on the stove to boil and reduce the
heat and stir to create a paste but not solid. After turning off the heat, add
white NP powder mixed with water, continue stirring and allow to cool. You do
this many times and you divide many plastic wheels.
Step two: You put a few pieces of orange or squeezed orange
peel, pineapple peel, boiled corn pulp or ripe bananas on the surface of this
mixture. Keep divided plastic trays in a cool place near the kitchen or where
there are spoiled fruits, and lots of flies and mosquitoes are hanging.
The flies will slowly fly over and lay their eggs on the
surface. Later, the eggs hatched into maggots and the maggots turned into pupae
and then transformed into flies. When the fruit fly maggots have appeared, put
the plastic tray in the oats barn. At temperatures above 22 degrees C, fruit
flies will reproduce continuously until the fruit fly eats all of this nutrient
mixture for 50-60 days. Nymphs turn into flies and then fly to feed the birds.
Note:
The downside of this nutrient mixture is that it will easily
harden, so every 10-15 days, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of the batch to the mixture
to soften the mixture, the new fly larvae survive. Batch is usually sold at the
market. If you don't have a batch, add 1-2 ripe bananas.
The fruit fly maggot can live well in a mixture that is
neither too dry nor wet. The maggot lives only in a soft, drained mixture. You
should take 10-15 days to bring the mixture close to where natural fruit flies
live, put the batch in and raise for 5-7 days, then return the old pen.
Above are the sharing of bird's food and how to make bird's
nest food. So, the questions about what your bird's nest will be answered. Hope
you had lots of useful information.
